Bethel — The House of God, Where Faith Comes Alive.

The Bethel Church of the Nazarene of Fond-Parisien is more than a congregation—it is a living testimony of God’s faithfulness and transforming power. Born from months of prayer and unwavering faith, Bethel stands as a beacon of hope where passion, obedience, and sacrifice converge to fulfill the Great Commission. From its humble beginnings in 2017, this house of God has become a sanctuary for all people—uniting families, empowering youth, and embracing every soul with the love of Christ. Rooted in the meaning of its name, “Bethel” — The House of God (Genesis 28:17,19), the church thrives as a spiritual home where hearts are healed, faith is strengthened, and lives are restored through worship, fellowship, and service. With its foundation built on grace and its mission grounded in action, Bethel continues to proclaim the Gospel boldly, bringing light to the community of Fond-Parisien and beyond.

The Bethel Church of the Nazarene of Fond-Parisien

The Bethel Church of the Nazarene of Fond-Parisien was founded by Rev. Franckel Formetus and his wife Philiona Derissaint Formetus. The life of this church and the promise of God upon its leaders are beautifully reflected through three foundational moments in its journey:

  1. May 18, 2017 – The laying of the foundation stone (Patio Church).

  2. June 2, 2017 – The first evangelistic service (a Friday evening).

  3. July 23, 2017 – The first Sunday morning service of worship and praise.

From these beginnings until today, the church has been marked by passion, obedience, and the spirit of sacrifice.

Bethel’s mission is to carry out God’s plan by continuing to preach the Gospel of grace to all creation. Its vision and purpose are built upon the following pillars:

  1. To establish a strong local and international ministry that glorifies the work of God.

  2. To expand throughout the commune of Ganthier—particularly in Fond-Parisien—and into other regions and nations.

  3. To promote the stability of families through unity in marriage and the spiritual growth of youth.

  4. To welcome and nurture people of all origins and cultures, forming one body in fraternal communion and professing one faith in Jesus Christ our Lord.

  5. To extend humanitarian support to the elderly, widows, orphans, and those in need—demonstrating the Gospel through tangible acts of love and service.

Planting this local church was a great challenge, preceded by months of fervent prayer and faith. Yet today, we can proclaim with confidence: “Eben-Ezer — Thus far the Lord has helped us.”

The name “Bethel” holds deep meaning—derived from the Hebrew word for “The House of God” (Genesis 28:17,19). It perfectly represents the heart of our assembly and the way God continues to bless its growth. Truly, the mighty hand of God has been our constant help in evangelism and ministry.

Within the Bethel family, believers live, worship, and grow together in harmony—sharing meals, studying the Word, and walking in unity, just as Scripture declares:

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity.”Psalm 133:1
